
Dr. Maira Rivera de Fernández is a lawyer who graduated from the University of Zulia (1984). She has over four decades of professional experience practicing law, specializing in Civil, Commercial, and Agrarian Law, both in legal consulting and in national and international litigation.
She is the founder of the law firm Rivera Fernández & Associates, which she has led for over 27 years as President, establishing it as a leading firm in the regional and national legal field, recognized for the strength of its practice and the trust of its clients.
Throughout her career, she has developed extensive experience in legal audits of individuals and corporations, as well as in the legal representation of more than sixty (60) nationally significant companies in strategic sectors such as finance, banking, construction, and civil engineering, as well as in the shipping and agricultural sectors.
Her professional practice has been characterized by leading negotiation processes and designing legal strategies in highly complex and sensitive matters, including inheritance disputes, divorces, family law, and shareholder controversies in commercial companies, with a focus on legal audits of national and international companies. She has also provided comprehensive advice and representation in civil, commercial, administrative, and agrarian proceedings before the courts of the Republic.
Prior to founding her firm, she practiced as a litigator at the law firm Baralt, Rincón & Asociados, and held positions of high institutional responsibility, notably her appointment as Director of the Board of Directors of Arrendadora Maracaibo, C.A., a position she held for eight (8) years by appointment of the Superintendency of Banks, FOGADE, and the Ministry of Finance in 1996. In academia, she has taught the course “Legal Clinic: Ethics and Professional Development” at the University of Zulia, in addition to actively participating in pro bono initiatives. His career has been recognized with the “Dr. Arminio Borjas” decoration, in its second and third class, awarded by the Federation of Bar Associations of Venezuela in merit of his outstanding professional and personal work.
