At Rivera Fernández & Asociados, we are convinced that we cannot live with our backs turned to the social reality in which we operate. We believe that academic and professional progress must be accompanied by the development of a human element that is essential for the proper exercise of this profession. For this reason, the execution of pro-bono projects and the taking on cases for free are a priority for the members of our legal team. Through our pro-bono work, we allow ourselves to collaborate with the construction of the country we want to have and ensure access to justice for individuals belonging to vulnerable groups.
Throughout our professional career, we have worked on pro-bono cases related to criminal defense, protection of fundamental rights, protection of children and adolescents, as well as in civil and family matters. We believe that even if a person does not have financial resources, they should have the possibility of accessing justice to enforce their rights. For this reason, we are committed to continuing this practice, investing our time, knowledge and professional experience in the people of our community.
As part of our pro-bono project, members of the Rivera Fernández & Asociados legal team created, in 2017, the Association for the Protection and Defense of Women named Prodefem. The association focuses on the development of investigations, legal advice, and strategic litigation, as well as on holding events that educate society in general on issues related to women’s human rights.
